With the MLS season set to begin in a bit over a week, we are excited to announce that Benchwarmers LA will cover LAFC along with the Dodgers and Lakers.
Really… the MLS?
YES! Although the MLS has been looked at as the laughing stock of the soccer world it is growing rapidly in popularity here in the States. Of course, the MLS does not even come close talent-wise when compared to the bigger leagues like the Premier League or La Liga. But here at Benchwarmers LA, it is important for us to support our local club so we can further the development and popularity of the MLS and LAFC. Who knows one day the MLS might be the biggest league in the world.
Why not cover the LA Galaxy?
Simple, at the current moment at Benchwarmers LA we only cover select teams from Los Angeles and definitely not teams from the City of Carson. So in reality, Los Angeles only has one real soccer club. Also, LAFC is new and fresh with some familiar faces like Carlos Vega, the prolific Mexican right-winger, and superstar owners like Laker legend Magic Johnson and Hollywood legend Will Ferrell. Not to mention that LAFC has some of the best atmospheres you will see in ANY stadium across the U.S.
What can we expect?
Benchwarmers LA is still very new and we are trying new things out every day. One thing that we will guarantee is that we will cover LAFC in our podcast Benchwarmer Talk and update you with articles just like we do with the Dodgers and Lakers. As for the next week expect another LAFC article where we go into further detail about the team and expections going into the season. Stay tuned!
