After Losing Opening Night, the Lakers Bounce Back and Win Two in a Row

After a poor performance against the Clippers on opening night, the Lakers are back to their winning ways. They easily beat the Mavs by 23 and the Timberwolves by 36 at Staples.

The Lakers played against the Mavs on Christmas night and new additions Montrezl Harrell and Dennis Schröder showed out! Trezz had 22 points and went 10-13 from the field. Schröder had 18 on 7-11 from the field. If these two can have these types of games consistently, then it’s great news for LeBron and AD. This means that they can sometimes take a beak seat as they have two other reliable scorers on their team. This shouldn’t really be a shocker as Trezz averaged 18.6 points on the Clippers last year and took home the Sixth Man of the Year award. Schröder, meanwhile, averaged 18.9 points on the Thunder last year and was the runner-up for the award. Now that both players are on the Lakers, their offense can only get better throughout the year!

As far as tonight’s win against Minnesota… No AD? No problem! The Lakers cruised their way to an easy victory tonight against the Wolves as they beat them 127-91. Kuz started off strong by hitting back to back to back threes at the start of the game and finished with 20 points. Marc Gasol was disappointing, to say the least, in the first two games of the season, but tonight he was on fire from long range as he drained a 35 footer with no hesitation! Gasol did a little bit of everything tonight as he had 12 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists, and 4 blocks. And while it was in garbage time in the 4th quarter, Alfonso McKinnie had a very productive 8 minutes at the end of the game and scored 8 points.

The Lakers have had two dominant wins and let’s hope they can keep it up tomorrow as they play against the Blazers here in Staples. This is their first back to back game this season and we know how well the Lakers performed in those games last season. Stay tuned!
